If this is your first time going abroad for teaching purposes, you probably have a lot of questions; we're here to help! At Boston Roundtable, we strive to make your excursion to China as enjoyable and informed as possible! In addition to these preliminary questions, accepted teachers also receive a comprehensive orientation by our United States staff on what to expect on their journey, including the culture and climate of their assigned city, Chinese teaching laws, educational etiquette in a Chinese school, and more. Do I need a college degree to apply?
Yes. We require all teachers to have a minimum qualification of a bachelors degree. Graduating seniors with expected degrees in the near future are also welcome to apply with the understanding that their start date will be after their degree has been obtained,. How long is the program?
Our typical program length is a minimum of one year. Is this a teaching English position only?
No! We are looking for students of all academic backgrounds to teach a variety of subjects. Applicants studying in Science, Humanities, Athletics etc. are all encouraged to apply! Am I required to know Mandarin to apply?
No! Although our US team can help you with practicing Mandarin, and you can also anticipate picking up some of the language during your stay, it is not a prerequisite to apply. What do i need to qualify for a work visa?

What is the salary for this position?
Salaries vary and are commensurate with an applicant’s experience and credentials. Base salaries are assigned in relation to the basic cost of living in an applicant’s given city. Will you pay for my flight to China?
No, due to the risk of a teacher violating their contract or ending a teaching year early, we require teachers to pay for their own flights. AM I being sent to a legitimate school?
Yes! All of Boston Roundtable's partner schools are accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education and thoroughly vetted for foreign teacher suitability. Some are Chinese-only schools and some are international schools. What parts of China do you send teachers to?
We have partner schools across the country. Positions are filled based on availability, preference, and how well a teacher matches with a school's needs. Some common school locations include Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Chengdu, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou and more! Can I request to go to a specific city?
In our preliminary application as well as during the interview process, you will be asked if you have a city you would prefer to teach in. Due to high application influx, Boston Roundtable cannot guarantee placement in a top-choice city, and will assign positions based on credentials and experience.
