New Teach Abroad Opportunity!

Boston Roundtable's partners at OneSmart Education are looking for participants for their two-week micro-teach abroad program. This is a Shanghai-centered program that connects Chinese students with American teachers delivering two-week curriculums while simulating an American classroom environment. This short-term opportunity is perfect for seasoned teachers as well as people testing the waters to see if teach abroad is a good fit for them!

Program Details:
  • Three Sessions (Two Weeks Each):
    • Session One: 7/12/20-7/25/20
    • Session Two: 7/26/20-8/8/20
    • Session Three: 8/9/20-8/21/20
  • Student Ages: 5-10 years old
  • Bilingual Teacher’s Aid/Translator in all classrooms
  • Subject Areas:
    • Arts: ESL, Theatre, Music, Visual Art
    • STEM: Coding, Robotics, Biology, Chemistry, Aviation, 
  • Class Workload: 4-5 60-minute classes per day
  • Classroom Sizes: Approx. 15 students

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan ten one-hour lessons in a given subject, alter them to fit multiple age groups between 5 and 10 years
  • Teach 4-5 classes per day in your subject with the assistance of a translator/teacher’s aid
  • Participate in evening and weekend icebreaker activities with students
  • Present an accurate example of how an American classroom functions

​Teacher Qualifications:
  • Currently employed at an accredited school (for certain STEM topics, employment at a non-profit or annual summer camp is acceptable)
  • Thorough background in one or more of the subjects listed in "program details"
  • Higher degree (Masters etc.) preferred
